Re: Saw Palmetto — Tried it, but can't tell if it did anything
Re: Propecia (Finasteride) — ...also I've had no sexual side effects
Re: Propecia (Finasteride) — Generic Finpecia from the internet (made in India) worked for me. Two people who hadn't seen me in months remarked at how my hair was obviously growing back without knowing that I was doing anything about it.
Re: Bald spots appearing — Lots of auto immune diseases in my family with Juevenile Diabetes, Type II Diabetes, MS, Graves Disease, Hoshimoto Disease, Androgenetic Alopecia, as well as other diseases such as Neuroblastoma Cancer, Colon Cancer, Gall Bladder disease, all within the immediate family of parents and siblings. I have pre diabetes, a low thyroid, arthritis, degenerative disc with L4 herniation. Bio-identical hormones and diet have helped to maintain a more stable health and lifestyle. Lost 50 lbs over the past 2 years, but hit plateau.
Re: Bald spots appearing — Appeared 2 years ago age 50 under a lot of stress, 3 half dollars, 3 quarters, a nickle and couple of dime size spots on side and back of head could be hidden with other hair, looked thinner. Steroid injections helped regrowth, and hormones were found to be way out of balance, started bio-identical hormone replacement pellets for Testosterone and Estrogen. Worked wonders until hormone levels recently changed, and now moderate to severe spots with 45% hair loss or more, top, sides and back of head started as dime size now multiple quarters and half dollars, dimes grown together and lots of hair falling daily, started LDN 3 nights ago and considerablly less hair fell this morning, so appears to be improving. One set of steriod injections a couple of weeks ago however twice as many spots since the injections. This time no stress going on around me only to note hormone levels changed, received an injection for Testosterone until pellets are due again for both Testosterone and Estrogen. This is to continue the pellets being done at the same time.

Depakote for migraine prophylaxis.
Benzodiazapines
zallers Re: Hormone imbalance — I went pre-menopausal around age 25and lost my period for about a year. Then about 2 weeks before I got my period back for the first time, I lost heaps of hair to the point of balding on the sides/front. (somewhat noticeable, but mostly noticeable to myself and close friends/family/hairdressers).
zallers Re: Convergent emotional upset — There is some kind of link (hormone/molecular change) in the body between 'emotionability' and hair-loss. I no longer get upset when I lose mild amounts of hair, I just observe and track it. However I've noticed within hours before or after a day with hair-loss I become easily tearful for no reason (PMS-like symptom). It is important to note that I do not feel emotional about the hair-loss at all... and it does not seem the 'emotionability' or stress causes hair-loss (as I have over 100 control tests showing no relationship). But there is some link that causes both a raise in anxiety/emotionability and hair-loss convergently (not as an affect of each other).
