I first noticed 2 weeks ago after severe gastroenteritis in India - I wonder if the fluid shifts with diarrhoea and dehydration might have had an effect in the eye.

my floaters (both eyes) appeared about 2 weeks after being in the toxic dust cloud at the world trade center on 9-11 - eyesight has been gradually worsening over the past 10 years- was tested for heavy metal poisoning and was able to chelate out eveything but the lead - toxic lead is still a BIG problem for me - floaters are the least of my worries now

had my floaters after mental breakdown and lousy medications by doctors. They come and go, seem to be related to a "full body stress"/"inflamation"/"allergy" kind of process where the brain feels "fried"/"frizzled"/"with aches and pains". My belief this is a full body process caused by inflamation that affect neuro-pathways.

The first medical doctor I saw told me that it was impossible to have colorless floaters because I could then not see them. If this happens to you, change doctors.

Re: Objects seem to appear and disappear while moving slowly — most of the floaters went away in a few weeks

Re: Distraction — Focusing on something else instead of the eye floaters (especially on a bright sunny day while looking up at the sky) helps me to not get fixated on and bothered by the floaters.

Re: Lensectomy — I had lensectomy, which is replacement of the lenses in the eyes to correct seriously bad vision, a procedure commonly carried out on people with cataracts. The procedure on the first eye went remarkably smoothly, but the second one, carried out a month later, caused more trauma in the eye, and a few days later, I ended up with floaters in that eye.

Re: Bungee jumping — I did a bungee jump and, a few days later, experienced flashing in my left eye. I went immediately to the eye hospital, where they saw gel detaching from my retina. They told me it was almost certainly caused by my bungee jump, and told me to look out for signs of retinal detatchment. Luckily, this did not happen, but I did get bad floaters a couple of days later, which I still have nearly ten years later.

Re: Bilberry supplement — Have been taking Trader Joe's Super Vision vitamin supplement for about 18 months. No impact. The supplement has bilberry and other ingredients.

Re: Specks moving in field of vision — Some people have temporary floaters, but then they go away. Mine came about 2 years ago and have persisted, a few in each eye.

Re: Magnesium-rich diet — I take quite a bit of magnesium, but this has never erradicated floaters. I haven't tried any other treatments.

Re: Objects seem to appear and disappear while moving slowly — Eye exams listing floaters and light flashes were accepted by the opthamologist as inconsequential. The doctor had already performed a complete eye exam not finding anything with which to really be concerned.

Re: Chiropractic treatment — I'm not sure, but it seems like just stretching my neck muscles and increasing my magnesium have helped some. Also, the relief I get at the computer when I wear tinted lenses is remarkable!
