Highly recommend the book "Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms" by Datis Kharrazian. Discusses in-depth the causes and treatments (many include repairing gut health) of Hashimoto's and other thyroid-related symptoms. Very informative and provides action items.

Re: Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) — dear anonymous-- do you take thyroid hormone as well? how did it affect your TSH levels?

Re: Standard Process Thyroid Supplement — no side effect but too early to tell if it is helping.

Re: Levothyroxine — I am no longer taking Levothyroxine, but while I did, I had to keep increasing the dosage as my symptoms kept returning even when my blood work kept coming back at "normal". I now am on 4.5 mcg of LDN and am feeling better than ever.

Re: Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) — The extremely mild side effects make using LDN completely worth taking. The 1st couple of days I felt a little dizzy and had trouble with my sleep. I compared it to drinking a lot of coffee and then trying to sleep. Very vivid dreams. But now that I've taken it for nearly 8 months, I will never take anything else. I feel great!!!

Re: Virus — Three other women who had Ross River got Hashimoto's after having that virus. One has severe depression needing shock treatment on a regular basis. I myself have severe depression made worse since Hashimoto's.

Re: Virus — I Had Ross River illness then was tired for years noise was awful as my hearing became acute could hear a tap dripping from a street away. A simple tinkle or two small rings on a childs car seat sent me into panic mode it sounded like a clanging instead of a tinkle. Was diognosed with hashimoto's and now take Thyroxine but my Cholestrol is now 7.9 even with a good diet.

Re: Levothyroxine — right now I think, not good. I am moody. My temperature rises and I spend minutes sweating for no reason and I am extremely emotional and on edge and touchy. I don't know if it is levothyroxine but everything lately on the emotional level seems out of control.

Re: Chills — I would go to bed suddenly with my teeth chattering and then wake up in a sweat starving. This was when the thyroid was being undertreated.
