Re: Low platelet count — Oct 2010: hospitalized for low platelets (5k) and diagnosed with ITP. Platelets recover temporarily with treatment but always fall again.
Re: Limit alcohol — I have been limiting alcohol consumption since I found out about my condition. It seems to have no effect one way or the other on my platelets.

Winrho raised my platelets from 50k to 150k one week after treatment. However, the effect is only temporary. I've had four Winrho treatments and my platelets peak two weeks after treatment and then begin to drop. My most recent treatment my platelets peaked at 258k and dropped to 120k by the next week.
Side effects began to appear after the third dose: Fatigue Dizziness Rapid heart rate during treatment Ability to feel the Whinro reach my heart chest pain; possible arithmea (hemotologist says its unrelated, but I went to the ER for chest pain hours after my treatment)

Prescribed prednisone for 3 months scaling down from 80mg daily to 5mg daily. Platelets rose from 50k (after 3 days of hospitilization and IVIG) to 100k. Platelets dropped back down to 50k after approx. 3 months after finishing prednisone.
Side effects: rapid weight gain (30lbs in 3 months) moodiness/depression jittery/ couldn't sleep (averaged 2-4 hours of sleep a night WITH sleeping meds, could not sleep without sleeping meds)
